A tahfiz school in Kuantan, Pahang recently ranked the top in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) after integrating AI into its teaching methods

Thanks to an AI-powered learning app called Pandai, Maahad Tahfiz Negeri Pahang emerged as the top-performing school in Malaysia’s 2023 SPM results.

Malaysia's national average grade for the 2023 SPM exam was 4.60, with just over 11,000 students securing straight As

Meanwhile, students at Maahad Tahfiz Negeri Pahang — many of whom used the Pandai app intensively — achieved an average grade of 1.070, the best in the country.

The difference? AI-driven personalised learning.

Through a partnership with Yayasan Pahang, 56 students received five months of free access to Pandai Premium

The impact was staggering. Collectively, they answered over 67,000 questions, completed nearly 13,000 quizzes, reviewed 14,000 digital flashcards, and attended more than 60 live tuition sessions.

Pandai's AI adapted to each student’s strengths and weaknesses, optimising their study plans in real-time.

AI's role in education isn't new, but Pandai is proving that smart, data-driven tutoring isn't just a theoretical advantage — it's a game-changer.

And if the results from Maahad Tahfiz Negeri Pahang are anything to go by, this might just be the beginning. Pandai is already planning its next iteration, MTNP 2.0, aimed at further refining AI-powered learning tools.

For students eyeing top grades, cramming might soon be a thing of the past. The future of exam prep? Smart, adaptive, and powered by AI.
