Local actor Kamal Adli suffered serious head injuries following an attack by a baton-wielding man in Singapore on Sunday, 12 March

Kamal's wife, actress Uqasha Senrose, posted Instagram Stories of the incident as it happened while they were attending a three-day Hari Raya Mega Sale 2023 event at the Singapore Expo.

According to Uqasha, the attacker hit Kamal repeatedly on the head, face, chest, and back with the metal baton.

"The attacker [also] hit him beneath his eyes. Thank God he didn't suffer any injury to his eyes, but doctors said that his head injury was bad and required stitches," said the tearful wife, who also urged Kamal's fans and friends to pray for his speedy recovery.

The 37-year-old actor had to undergo surgery to treat his injuries and is currently recuperating at a private hospital in Singapore.

Meanwhile, the attacker was immediately apprehended by the police at the scene of the incident

According to the Singapore Police Force, the 33-year-old suspect will be charged for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon in a Singapore court today, 14 March.

"If convicted, the offence under Section 324 of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years, a fine, caning, or any combination of such punishments," it said in a statement today, according to Bernama.

Police have also seized the baton as a case exhibit, and investigations are still ongoing.

As for the motive, Uqasha believes that the man attacked her husband out of jealousy of their marriage

"When he struck Kamal, the man yelled out that he was jealous about our marriage.

"I believe he had targeted Kamal for sometime, as not too long ago, we received a threatening social media message from a mysterious person who threatened to kill my husband," she said on Instagram, as quoted by New Straits Times.
