Senior Officer Allegedly Assaults Trainee Mid-Fitness Test By Stepping On His Neck
The trainee then fell and sustained multiple facial injuries, including a broken tooth.
A trainee was allegedly assaulted by a senior immigration officer at the Temporary Immigration Depot in Bidor, Perak on Thursday, 9 March
According to Bernama, the incident took place at 9.30am, on the last day of a fitness test for the officers and members of the Immigration Department's Special Tactical Team (PASTAK).
Three trainees were ordered by the senior officer to do twenty push-ups each while he stood and watched.
The senior then allegedly proceeded to step on the neck of one of the trainees, causing him to fall and sustain multiple injuries to the face.
The victim lodged a report to the Tapah district police station, which was received by Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri at 2am on Friday, 10 March
"While doing the push-ups, the senior officer allegedly stepped on the back of a trainee's neck, causing him to fall. This inflicted wounds on the trainee's nose, gums, lips, and broke the victim's front tooth," said Yusri as reported by Bernama.
The police chief also mentioned that the victim had sought treatment at the emergency department of Shah Alam Hospital in Selangor.
The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt
According to the Penal Code, if found guilty, the senior officer will be punished with a prison term that may extend up to seven years. He may also be fined.
Yusri said that all suspects involved in the incident have been identified, and a thorough investigation will be carried out.
