The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Cargo Centre was thrown into a state of alarm when a scanning machine detected a package labelled 'bomb'

The incident, which occurred yesterday, 25 April, prompted an emergency call to the KLIA district police headquarters. An airport staff reported that a scanning machine had identified a parcel with a warning on its packaging that read, "Beware, do not throw, or it will explode."

According to Harian Metro, KLIA district police chief ACP Azman Shari'at said an airport scanner operator detected batteries and several wires inside the parcel, prompting them to file a police report.

Upon inspection, it was discovered that the package was intended for a person residing in Limbang, Sarawak

"We had to use the services of K9 sniffer dogs and found no explosive materials.

"However, due to the threatening statement written on the package, the Royal Malaysia Police Bomb Disposal Unit took safety measures according to standard operating procedures using the 'Wheel Barrow Mk 8 Plus Il' and one 'Cartridges L2 A1'," he said.

Azman added that after officers initiated a firing procedure using a pigstick device, they found that the package contained only a laptop and a charger.

Further investigation revealed that the sender had confirmed that the parcel contained a laptop.

"The investigation is ongoing, and the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code concerning criminal threats," said Azman.
