A man was caught on CCTV slamming a woman to the ground at a gym in Bangkok, Thailand

The footage begins with the woman engaging in conversation with a man dressed in grey.

The man can be seen standing quite close to her, as she pays for a drink at the counter.

Things escalate violently when the man forcefully grabs the woman and throws her to the ground.

The force of the impact sends the woman sliding across the floor, and it appears that she might have hit her head on a door frame.

Footage of the incident began circulating across several social media platforms such as Facebook and X on 21 April.

X user @RedSkullxxx shared the video, which has amassed over two million views.

According to Thai news site Thaiger, the incident reportedly took place at Muscle Factory, a gym located in the Sukhumvit area.

The timestamp on the footage indicates that the assault occurred at around 4pm on 15 April.

The man, identified as a Chinese national named Anthony, had been training the victim for free, hoping that she would consider a romantic relationship with him

When his advances were rebuffed, the man flew into a fit of rage, leading to the assault.

The victim, a 22-year-old Chinese student, disclosed to local media that she sustained injuries to her elbow and head during the altercation.

She also shared that she reported the incident to the police on the same day, but was informed that the assault was "too trivial" to warrant filing a report.

Instead, the police proposed a settlement of just 20,000 baht (about RM2,578.30), which the woman has yet to receive.

According to Thai media outlets, the woman also plans to seek further medical evaluation.

The incident sparked outrage among netizens, not only because of the assault, but also due to the apparent lack of appropriate action taken against the assailant

"What is 'too little harm'? What do you do in a situation like this? The man is a complete loser. When he didn't get what he wanted, he used force," said an X user.

Another user wrote, "Maybe the reason why women seem closed off is because they're scared to be kind to the opposite sex. They're afraid something like this will happen."

"Who should I scold? The man or the police?" one netizen asked.

"How can the police do such a shitty job? The assault on the woman was too minor? What kind of reasoning is that?" a netizen questioned.

"The assault was too insignificant for a police report? Does that mean the woman had to die first [for it to be deemed important enough]?" another wondered.
