The new premium KTM tickets were first announced in September 2019.

Besides having larger seats, the business class coach has a number of new facilities

Passengers will get to enjoy on-demand audio and video entertainment, WiFi, USB charging ports, onboard dining, travel kits, and 45-degree reclining seats.

According to Paul Tan, there will be dedicated stewards or stewardesses serving these passengers too.

Out of the total 36 seats, 12 of them are non-adjoining seats, while the remaining 24 are couple seats.

However, there is only one business class coach out of the new six-coach ETS2.

The business class coach is currently available on the KL Sentral - Padang Besar, Perlis route

The service will be expanded to other routes in stages, KTM stated in its frequently asked questions (FAQ) section.

Bernama reported that the first business class-equipped train made its maiden journey on 11 October 2019.

The ticket price is inclusive of an onboard meal, reported Paul Tan.

KTM chief executive officer Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin revealed that ETS is very popular in the nation, serving a total of 3.91 million passengers in 2018

"As of July this year, 2.15 million people have boarded ETS, on average of 10,400 passengers a day," said Mohd Rani.

"The introduction of the new ETS2 train coaches is in line with the government's desire to increase the use of rail-based public services."

You can find more information about the new service on KTM's website or its 24-hour call centre at 03-2266120.
