M'sian Couple Missing For 3 Weeks After Boyfriend Was Sent To The UK To Be Boss's Driver

The couple has been identified as Goh, 21, and his girlfriend, Yumi, 23.

In a Facebook post by Goh's cousin, ShiiYiing Tan shared that Goh told his mother he worked as a driver and that his employer needed his services at Genting Highlands from 20 August to 1 September.

Upon his return, he informed his mother that he would be flying to the UK for a month of work, with a prior layover in Bangkok, Thailand.

Tan mentioned that Goh arrived in Bangkok, Thailand, on 4 September. The next day, he called his mother to ask for help ordering a dish at an eatery.

Goh last spoke to his mother on 8 September after taking her advice to pack warm clothes for the UK.

"[Goh] has always been independent and private, often not sharing details of his life with his family. As a result, his mother doesn't know anything about his employer, who he hangs out with, or even if he has a girlfriend," Tan wrote in the missing notice on Facebook on Sunday, 29 September.

Tan stated that after the police visit, the parents of both families communicated and discovered that Goh and Yumi had provided conflicting information about their travel plans.

"The girl told her family that she was going to Spain, and the boy told his family that he was going to the UK," she continued.

Tan claimed that the police could not proceed with the missing person reports due to insufficient evidence, as Goh had informed his mother that he would be working in the UK for a month.

"The police advised the family to report the case when they don't come back after a month," Tan said.

She mentioned that Yumi has been unreachable since 8 September, the same day Goh's mother lost contact with her son, reported China Press.

Similarly, a friend of Yumi told Sin Chew Daily that she had not heard back from Yumi since 1am on 8 September.

Separately, a conversation between Yumi and a friend revealed that Yumi and Goh lost their luggage and travel documents in Spain, potentially stranding them in the country for one to two months.
