Malaysian Man Loses RM25,000 After Falling For Singaporean Sperm Donor Scam
The woman promised to pay the man RM1 million if he could get her pregnant.
A 49-year-old Chinese man has lost RM25,000 after falling victim to a sophisticated online scam run by a woman claiming to be from Singapore
According to Sin Chew Daily, the victim, identified only as Lee, responded to a social media advertisement posted by the fraudster, surnamed Chen.
Posing as a wealthy 34-year-old woman from Singapore, Chen offered to pay Lee RM1 million if he agreed to engage in sexual activity to get her pregnant.
She claimed to be married to a wealthy Singaporean businessman and was desperate to have a child.
Speaking at a press conference with MCA public services and complaints department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong, Lee said he exchanged photos with the woman on WhatsApp.
According to him, she expressed her liking for Lee, a construction worker, because he appeared "mature and stable", and was convinced that he was the sperm donor she was searching for.
The woman then devised an elaborate ruse involving a fake lawyer, a forged confidentiality agreement, and requests for various fees.

Initially, Lee was asked to pay her lawyer RM1,000 to prove his sincerity.
Following that, the lawyer demanded another RM24,000 for handling fees before Lee could receive an advance payment of RM300,000.
The lawyer claimed that Lee would receive the remaining RM700,000 after the woman was pregnant, reported China Press.
"I spoke to the woman on the phone at that time, but when I asked for a video call, she refused because she was busy.
"I never saw her real face from beginning to end. Even the signing of the confidentiality agreement was done online," Lee said during the press conference.
He initially intended to only help the woman and had no plans to make money. However, he fell in love with her after conversing with her.
By this point, Lee admitted to having transferred a total of RM25,000 to her.

After realising he had been scammed, Lee sought help from the MCA public services and complaints department. Chong confirmed that Lee had been duped and revealed that the law firm purportedly hired by the woman was fake.
During the press conference, Lee also played voice notes he received from the woman, revealing that her accent sounded local.
China Press noted that her speech seemed scripted, with phrases that captivated the victim, such as "I am worried about you" and "I really want to be with you sooner".
