Warden Accused Of Killing A Trainee Is Comforted By Family After He Starts Crying In Court
Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centre (PUSPEN) warden Nur Aslam Faizal allegedly murdered Mohd Ali Mohd Nor together with an intern at PUSPEN, Perlop in Sungai Siput, Perak on 31 January.
The Sungai Siput Courthouse today, 8 February, was filled with confusion after the magistrate briefly adjourned the court session
The court was in session to charge two Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centre (PUSPEN) employees, who are accused of murdering a resident at the centre on the morning of 31 January.
PUSPEN warden Nur Aslam Faizal, aged 35, together with intern Suffian Effendy Kadri, aged 30, allegedly murdered 50-year-old Mohd Ali Mohd Nor at the centre in Perlop, Sungai Siput in Perak.
The two nodded when the charge framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code was jointly read out together with Section 34 of the same law before magistrate Nurul Asyifa Redzuan.
The charge provides for the death penalty if convicted.
However, Nur Aslam started sobbing after he could not hold back tears behind the accused's cage and his family members were seen trying to calm him down by trying to hug him, reported Harian Metro.
The magistrate allowed Nur Aslam five minutes to meet his family
During the proceedings, which were being conducted by Nur Aslam's lawyer Keshvinder Singh and deputy public prosecutor (DPP) R S Vitthiyeswary, Keshvinder requested for his client, who is the father of three kids, to be given a brief moment to meet his family members as he had not seen them since his arrest.
Magistrate Nurul allowed the application for a brief meeting between Nur Aslam, his mother, and his wife.
The intern, Suffian Effendy, did not have any representation.
No plea was recorded as murder cases are under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
The court has set 10 April for mention as it awaits the complete post-mortem and forensic report.

The two accused were arrested together with two others last week
Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said that four individuals comprising the PUSPEN warden and the intern were arrested in connection with the murder of the 50-year-old resident.
According to Mohd Yusri, an autopsy found that there were injuries on the victim's back.
New Straits Times reported that it is believed he was hit by a blunt object.
Nur Aslam is also a staff member of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK).
