A newlywed couple decided to donate their wedding feast after their rented homestay for the reception in Titi Besi, Kepala Batas, Kedah, was flooded on 30 November

According to Bernama, Mohamed Khairie Mohamed Kamal, 28, and Nur Izzatul Asma Mustafa, 22, had arranged catering for 1,200 wedding guests.

However, due to the flood, the couple had to downsize their guest list and relocate their reception to the bride's grandfather's house in Kampung Hutan Kandis, Alor Setar.

Because of this, they decided to have all the food packed and distributed to friends, family, tahfiz centres, and the public.

"It is indeed sad because we had to hold the wedding yesterday followed by the reception today in a flood situation, but I accept this fate," said the bride, while distributing food and gifts to the public in Kepala Batas town.

Nur Izzatul stated they had planned the wedding since May and spent RM20,000 for the event

She acknowledged her sadness over the events, but said they have accepted it and considered their wedding day as a historic moment in their lives.

She also expressed her gratitude to the guests, who still attended the wedding reception in Alor Setar despite having to travel there by boat and four-wheel drives.

They were seen sitting in a boat and on top of a four-wheel drive in a series of photos published by Bernama.

The groom, Mohamed Khairie, added that he usually saw such situations on television and social media, but never imagined experiencing it personally.

"However, we have accepted this as we are unable to do anything else," he said.
