Pak Cik Sells Roti Canai At 50 Sen For 32 Years Because He Doesn't Wanna Burden Customers
With the help from his four children, he can sell up to 1,000 pieces of roti canai a day.
A pak cik who has been selling roti canai for 32 years has insisted on maintaining its price at 50 sen despite the rising cost of raw ingredients because he does not want to burden his customers
Speaking to Utusan Malaysia, 64-year-old Md Kamil Abdullah said his decision to continue 'berjuang' (fighting) and selling roti canai at that price is his way of sharing 'rezeki' (sustenance) with local residents, who generally have a low income.
Operating at Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, the former Royal Armored Corps (KAD) soldier said his decision to sell the flaky flatbread at RM0.50 since 1990 is a kind of 'share' for the afterlife and a good deed done in the name of his late parents.

"The size of the roti canai kosong is the same as before and has never changed even though the price of raw materials has gone up," he said, adding that he can sell up to 800 to 1,000 pieces a day
"In addition, I also make murtabak, which is sold at RM3 (per piece). Every day I am able to sell about 300 pieces. Alhamdulillah, the profit from the sale is sufficient to sustain the prices of raw ingredients."
He also told Kosmo! that he is able to make profits from the business because the prices of raw ingredients are subsidised by the government.

Due to the small profit margin, Kamil said he has to lower the operation cost by getting his four children to help
His children help flip roti canai and cook them in two separate cooking stoves in order to fulfil the orders, reported Kosmo!
