Penang Father Lodges Police Report After Teens Caught Kicking A Girl At Staircase
The police have confirmed receiving a report regarding the incident.
Police in George Town, Penang are now investigating an assault case involving a group of individuals who beat up a girl on a staircase in a building
The assault was recorded on a mobile camera and posted on Facebook by an account using the handle 'Whyman Whyman' at 3.29pm on Sunday, 30 July. The account's bio mentioned Kuala Lumpur.
However, the exact location of the incident remains unknown at this time.
Northeast district police chief ACP Soffian Santong stated that the police received a report from a 51-year-old man, claiming to be the father of the girl, at around 10pm on Sunday night.
Soffian explained that the 24-year-old victim had left her home in December last year due to family issues and hasn't returned since then
According to the victim's father, the family has not been able to get in touch with her.
The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
In light of the situation, authorities have urged people to refrain from spreading the video further to avoid any speculations and have instead encouraged those with relevant information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
