People Who Try To 'Chup' Parking Spots Will Face A RM2,000 Fine Or Serve Jail Time
The penalty will be doubled for repeat offenders.
In recent times, there have been cases of people standing guard over a parking spot in a bid to "reserve" it for their family/friends
The most recent case, which happened in August, involved a woman and a man.
According to a Facebook video, which has since been deleted, the woman was seen blocking a parking spot for her friends in Mid Valley by standing over it.
She was overheard describing the driver of another car recording the video as "stupid" because he did not speak Mandarin, and that he has "no manners."
In the video, which went viral, the male driver was heard saying, "No manners? Then what about you? You stand over here. You're not a car. You're a person."

The woman later apologised for her mistake to "block" the parking spot.
No more as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has now stated that people cannot "block" a parking spot by standing over it as it's an offence under Section 50 (3) of the Road Transport Act 1987
In a statement yesterday, PDRM said that it is illegal for unauthorised personnel to "cop" a parking spot and divert traffic away from the empty space.
While condemning the action as irresponsible, PDRM also warned that it may not only lend people who "park" themselves in trouble but can also be dangerous.
"What is clear is that this is an irresponsible and annoying act and endangers personal safety," read the statement posted on PDRM's Facebook page.
While first-time offenders will face a fine of up to RM2,000 or imprisonment of up to six months, a second conviction will double the penalty to – RM4,000 fine or imprisonment of up to 12 months
