According to Sin Chew Daily, Bukit Aman sexual, women, and children's investigations division (D11) principal assistant director Choo Lily confirmed that a police report was lodged by the Indonesian native yesterday, 8 July.

Malaysiakini reported that the woman's statement has also been recorded to facilitate investigations.

The Perak exco member has consistently maintained his innocence over the matter

"I didn't do it, I'm not afraid of being investigated," the DAP man was quoted as saying by China Press, before adding that he will give his cooperation to the authorities for the case.

According to Sin Chew Daily, he added that he believes in the professionalism of the police.

Malaysiakini revealed that the suspect, who is a father of four, is a two-term assemblyman and a first-term Perak exco member.

"This is a serious allegation made, and the party views the matter with grave concern," Nga was quoted as saying by Malaysiakini.

"As a police report has been lodged, the party is of the view that no one is above the law, and as such will leave it to the authorities to conduct a full investigation," he added.

Nga also vowed that appropriate action will be taken against the assemblyman depending on the outcome of the probe.

At the time of writing, it remains unknown if the assemblyman has been summoned by the police to have his statement recorded

China Press reported Bukit Aman D11 assistant director Choo Lily as saying that the case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.

The Indonesian woman has also been sent for a physical examination.
