A photo of a young man lying beside his mother's grave has gone viral

The photo was posted by Facebook user Su Ahmad, who shared that she saw the man there every day for months.

"Usually, whenever I come here, whether in the morning or evening, he would be at his mother's grave. He would even bring along a packet of tea and sit by his mother's grave for a long time. This photo was taken the last time I saw him," she shared.

Su Ahmad said the photo was taken at 6.30pm about a month ago, just 30 minutes before the cemetery was due to close.

She wanted to wake him up, but her children advised against it, suggesting that the young man might just be tired.

Based on her family's interaction with the young man, Su Ahmad learned that the young man regularly came to the cemetery in his food delivery uniform after his mother passed away in a road accident

"When my children visited their father's grave every day, they got to know him. That's how they learned his story.

"His mother passed away a little over a month after my husband was buried here," she explained, adding that the man's mother had been a nasi lemak seller in Bangi, Selangor.

At the time of writing, the post has garnered over 1,800 likes and 1,000 shares

Many netizens sympathised with the young man's loss and related to his grief.

"That is so sad that he is sleeping there," read a top comment.

"Heartbreaking! I also once felt like lying down beside my husband's grave," wrote one person, while another added, "What a filial child. He must really miss his mother."

In her Facebook post, Su Ahmad also revealed that she has not seen the young man for the past 30 days

"It worries me that it's been over a month since I last saw this young man. Today (24 November), I waited for him again but didn't see him. Where could he have gone?

"I hope he is well. I'm trying to think positively. Maybe he has started university somewhere far away, which is why he hasn't been coming," she wrote in the Facebook post.
