South Korean singer Psy has spoken up to clarify his friendship with fugitive Malaysian businessman Jho Low amidst a recent K-Pop sex scandal report by Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC)

The 'Gangnam Style' hitmaker's friendship with Jho Low was highlighted in a recent investigative report by MBC's show 'Straight', which focused on several high-ranking figures from popular K-Pop agency, YG Entertainment, who were alleged to have been involved in soliciting prostitutes for two Southeast Asian investors in July 2014.

Following the report, Psy took to his Instagram to clear the air yesterday, 29 May, saying that "It is true that the Jho Low mentioned in the news is my friend."

According to the South Korean singer, back when he knew Jho Low, "he had been someone who was active in Hollywood's show business industry."

He said that he came to know of Jho Low because of his overseas activities, and he introduced Jho Low to Yang Hyun-suk, CEO of YG Entertainment who was also named in the 'Straight' report by MBC.

According to Psy, whether or not the Malaysian businessman was a good friend, "it is an indisputable fact" that he was friends with him

"When Jho Low and his party visited Korea as part of their Asia tour, Yang Hyun Suk and I were invited to attend (the dinner). After eating and drinking with others who had been invited, Yang Hyun Suk and I left first.

"At that time, I thought of (the dinner) as a meeting with a friend who came from a faraway country. I apologize for the inconvenience I have caused with this matter," read Psy's statement, according to its English translation in a report by Soompi.

Meanwhile, Jho Low's spokesperson said that the businessman met YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun-suk through his friend Psy

"Low is a friend of Psy, and through him, he met Yang Hyun Suk.

"He was never involved in, nor aware of, any conduct of the kind alleged in the MBC 'Straight' report," Jho Low’s spokesperson said while denying claims that the businessman was one of the investors in question.
