A report of a fire at an apartment building in Penang led the Fire and Rescue Department to a man practising witchcraft

According to Harian Metro, the Penang Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 1.55am on Saturday, 26 June.

A team of firemen were then dispatched to the location.

A video from a neighbour went viral on social media. The footage was filmed from a block across the 23-year-old's apartment unit and there appears to be a fire inside the house.

When firemen reached the location, they noticed the smell of smoke but found that the apartment unit was not on fire.

They took down the door and discovered a man carrying out a ritual inside.

A spokesperson of the Fire and Rescue Department explained to Harian Metro that the team had to use special equipment to enter the apartment.

Viral photos of the scene show blood on the floor, as well as other miscellaneous items such as candles, dolls, and eggs used in the man's ritual.
