Rosmah Says Acquittal Of Money Laundering & Tax Evasion Charges Is Her Birthday Gift

She said the acquittal is also a gift for "bossku".

Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has described her acquittal of 17 money laundering and tax evasion charges today, 19 December, as a belated birthday present

"The court's decision is a special birthday present for me.

"I will relay this good message to my husband. This is the justice I was waiting for," FMT quoted the wife of imprisoned former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as saying at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex.

She also said the acquittal is a gift for "bossku", referring to her husband, reported Kosmo!

Rosmah turned 73 last Monday, 10 December.

In delivering his judgment today, 19 December, High Court judge K Muniandy granted Rosmah's application to quash all charges of money laundering involving RM7,097,750 and five charges of failing to declare her income to the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN).

She was initially charged in the Sessions Court on 4 October 2018 before the case was transferred to the High Court, reported the New Straits Times.

However, Rosmah is still facing another court case, as she is appealing her conviction in the RM1.25 billion corruption case related to a solar energy project for rural schools in Sarawak

In September 2022, the Kuala Lumpur High Court sentenced her to 10 years in prison and fined her RM970 million for bribery.

At the time, her defence lawyer pleaded for a one-day jail sentence, but the public prosecutor team urged the High Court to take into consideration the gravity of the offence, saying, "If just a day's jail is imposed, it will send the wrong message".

Upon hearing this, Rosmah remarked, "Might as well kill me."
