Selangor Sultan Revokes Najib & Rosmah's Datuk And Datin Titles Effective Immediately

The state secretary said their titles were removed as they were both found guilty over their corruption cases.

The honorifics awarded by Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to former prime minister Najib Razak and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, have been revoked effective today, 12 September

According to a statement by the Selangor Royal Office, Selangor state secretary Haris Kasim said Najib's titles were removed as the Federal Court upheld his conviction in the SRC International case late last month.

Meanwhile, Rosmah's title was revoked after she was found guilty of three corruption charges at the High Court on 1 September.

Najib was originally awarded the Datuk title in 1992 and the Datuk Seri title in 2004, while Rosmah was awarded the Datin Paduka Seri title in 2005.

The couple was also stripped of their titles in Negeri Sembilan in 2018

They, however, still have many Datuk Seri titles from other states.

According to Berita Harian, Najib has nine from Pahang, Perak, Melaka, Kedah, Penang, Perlis, Sabah, and Sarawak.

Meanwhile, Rosmah has titles from Pahang, Melaka, Kedah, Sabah, and Sarawak, which carries the title of Datuk Seri or its equivalent.
