A student's tweet about his helpful neighbours who offered him groceries while he underwent home quarantine has gone viral and touched many netizens' hearts

In a tweet last Saturday, 8 May, Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Ilmu Khas Cheras student Danial Shazimi shared two photos that show two separate neighbours asking if they could provide him and his housemates food while they undergo quarantine.

One of the photos shows a note written by his neighbour, while another photo shows a WhatsApp conversation between him and another neighbour.

At the time of writing, the tweet has gone viral with over 33,000 likes and 14,400 retweets.

Danial — who lives together with his friends in a condominium in KL — has been in quarantine since 4 May. The housemates had to undergo quarantine after one of them tested positive for COVID-19, reported Malay Mail.

The infected housemate is said to have been transferred to the MAEPS quarantine centre in Serdang.

"You are all currently under quarantine, how are you going to buy food? If you want some assistance, just inform. I am willing to help," read the WhatsApp message from one of the neighbours

"All of you cook for yourselves, right? Whatever you don't have enough of, just let me know."

It was reported by Malay Mail that just a day after, Danial received a handwritten note from another neighbour asking them if they have enough groceries stocked up.

The neighbour, who introduced herself as the aunty from a unit in their building, also informed them to WhatsApp her if they needed any groceries as she was heading to a supermarket on Monday, 10 May.

"We didn't think that our neighbours were as kind as this as we only just acknowledge each other in the lift," revealed the student on Twitter

Danial shared that his neighbours were of another race and that he was grateful of such kindness.

He added that he and his housemates were considered as "just (close) contacts who have to wear the pink bracelet".

They are not COVID-19 positive and hope to receive negative results for their second COVID-19 tests, reported Malay Mail.

The news portal also reported that the students have been receiving lemang and kuih raya from their families back home, while their institute has provided them with essential goods during their quarantine.

Danial also said that one of the neighbours who reached out also offered to purchase them Hari Raya meals as the students will be under quarantine until the first day of Hari Raya.
