A male primary school teacher in Melaka has been arrested on suspicion of molesting two Primary 6 students in a haunted house at their school carnival on Wednesday, 8 January

According to Sinar Harian, Melaka acting police chief Datuk Md Nazri Zawawi said the incident came to light after the two 12-year-old girls reported the matter to their school headmaster on Wednesday morning.

"The two victims, who were scared and crying, recounted the incident to the headmaster, claiming they were inside the haunted house that was set up within the school grounds.

"The victims alleged that the suspect had groped their private parts and breasts," Nazri told reporters on Thursday, 9 January.

The school headmaster had immediately confronted the 43-year-old suspect about the allegations, but he denied them

According to the New Straits Times, the headmaster lodged a police report at the Tanjung Minyak police station at 12.48pm on Wednesday, leading to the suspect's arrest at 10.25pm.

The suspect is under remand for six days until 14 January. The remand order was issued by Magistrate Nor Syaliati Mohd Sobri at the Ayer Keroh Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

"A preliminary urine test on the suspect found that he tested positive for methamphetamine," Nazri added.

Investigations are being conducted under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
