[VIDEO] Woman Refuses To Wear Seatbelt On Flight To KL, Gets Escorted Out By Cabin Crew
"I don't care!" the woman can be heard shouting at the flight attendants.
A woman was escorted off a Batik Air flight travelling from Hanoi to Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, 5 January, after repeatedly refusing to wear her seatbelt during takeoff
The incident, which was captured on video and has since gone viral on TikTok, shows the passenger arguing with flight attendants as they reminded her of the safety requirement.
"Stop yelling at me! This is a safety procedure for you," an air stewardess can be heard firmly reprimanding the woman in the clip, while the passenger shouts back, "I don't care! I don't have to listen to you!"
A follow-up video shows the woman being escorted off the plane by the cabin crew, while other passengers applauded and recorded the scene
"This is my first time seeing a passenger refusing to wear their seatbelt during takeoff. And they even scolded the air stewardess for asking them to do so?" read the caption of the video by TikTok user @fegiegie.
The TikTok user also shared with SAYS that the disruption nearly caused her to miss her connecting flight to Indonesia, but she was grateful that Batik Air waited for her and other affected passengers in Malaysia.
The videos have since garnered over 50 million views, with netizens criticising the problematic passenger and praising the cabin crew for handling the situation so professionally
"The air stewardess was angry yet so gentle. Way to go!" commented a TikTok user.
"Is wearing a seatbelt that hard?" questioned another netizen.
Meanwhile, another said, "They're just asking you to wear your seatbelt, not jump off a flying plane."
According to Indonesian news outlet Kompas, Batik Air corporate communications officer Danang Mandala Prihantoro confirmed the incident on flight number OD572.
"Despite receiving clear and precise instructions, the passenger refused to comply with the cabin crew's directions," he stated. "As a result, the passenger and her companion were asked to disembark before the flight started."
