GrabFood Rider Killed In Accident Was Working 2 Jobs To Support His Sick Wife And Family

The 42-year-old GrabFood delivery rider in Singapore, who was killed in an accident involving a truck on Friday, 20 December, had been doing multiple jobs in order to support his sick wife and family

His wife had recently fallen sick and was unable to work.

So 42-year-old Phang Wei Sum, who had a full-time job with an electronic engineering company, took up the part-time job of delivering food about a month ago, reported the Straits Times.

He was from Ipoh but was a permanent resident of Singapore

According to Chinese-language evening newspaper Lianhe Wanbao on Saturday, 21 December, the man had been working in Singapore for more than a decade.

The report said that Phang's family, which comprises of his wife and 11-year-old daughter, collected his body from the morgue on Saturday morning and will send it to Ipoh for the funeral.

His wife said that he cared a lot for his family

He was a good husband and father who never smoked or drank alcohol.
