A woman's act of kindness in feeding a stranger at Hospital Sultanah Aminah in Johor Bahru has warmed the hearts of Malaysians online

The touching moment was caught on camera by the woman's niece, who posted the video on TikTok on Saturday, 8 June.

"[We] saw him struggling to eat and my family got his back," wrote TikTok user @jamzapparels, adding that every patient in the ward is important.

The 26-second video shows her aunt sitting on a man's hospital bed and gently spoon-feeding him. The man is seen reaching for a tissue to wipe his teary eyes, while the kind lady waits for him between each bite of his meal.

The Malaysian behind the TikTok account, 28-year-old Jamunahwathy, told SAYS that the woman in the video is her aunt, her mother's younger sister

Jamunahwathy said the both of them were at the hospital visiting her brother, who was admitted for a heart surgery, when they saw the man a few beds away struggling to eat dinner in his weak condition.

She said that he was a stroke patient.

"The nurses offered to help feed him, but he refused and motioned that he was okay. Because of his condition, he couldn't speak that day.

"But we noticed, and so, my aunt offered to feed him. He didn't want to trouble her at first, but she insisted and said to him that he wouldn't be able to take his medication or sleep well on an empty stomach," she recounted.

"He agreed a while later, and I recorded it because it was a sweet gesture. Only after looking at the comments, I realised that it was in an interracial setting, we weren't aware of it," added Jamunahwathy about her viral video.

As of writing, the video has gotten over 3.5 million views, with netizens praising her aunt for her compassion and celebrating the Malaysian harmony in the video

"To those who always talk about 'Type C', 'Type M', or 'Type K', please watch this video. Humanity always wins. May God always bless you, amma," commented a TikTok user.

Meanwhile, many others shared their own experiences of receiving help from strangers at the hospital

"I once got into an accident and broke my arm. My whole body was in pain and I couldn't get up from the bed, but there was an Indian auntie who helped feed me my breakfast. She even dipped my bread in tea to feed me," said a netizen.

"I've also experienced this in the maternity ward. At the time, I was only 19 and couldn't walk, but next to me was a Malay auntie, she helped me walk to the toilet, and even tied my hair and gave me coffee. I won't forget her," said another touched Malaysian.
