[VIDEO] Homesick Malaysian Students Recreate 'Chap Fan' Stall In UK Dorm
They even had the classic red plastic plates!
A group of Malaysian students in the UK recreated the chap fan eating experience in their dormitory
In a post on the Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu, user 冰美式脑袋 shared that they missed the familiar experience of eating economy rice back home.
In the video, the user showed how a group of her friends got together to prepare nine different dishes and had fun serving themselves following the typical system at a chap fan shop.
"You have to line up! Take rice, choose your dishes, then let aunty calculate the price! Handsome boys and pretty girls get a discount!" reads the hilarious caption of her video.
One of her friends even pretends to be a chap fan aunty calculating the cost of a customer's plate of food
"Oh, you ah? Handsome boy, okay lah. Five ringgit only," he says while looking at his friend's food.
The video has received a lot of laughs, with many Malaysians praising them for the spot-on cooking and for using the iconic red plates typically found at chap fan shops
"That looks so good! You guys can open a shop now," said a Xiaohongshu user.
"The best part must be the red plates! When you have those plates, you definitely have those chap fan store feels," said another.
Another netizen asked, "Did you guys actually bring chap fan plates with you to the UK?"
