Two weeks ago, a man was caught physically harassing a woman on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage while she was walking alone in Sea Park, Petaling Jaya

According to Kwong Was Yit Poh, the 20-year-old was reported to be walking alone in the SS2 residential area at 7.09pm on 28 April when a hooded man came up behind her and hugged her, lifting her up off the ground.

The Chinese daily reported that the victim then screamed in fright, scaring the assailant away.

The incident was captured by a nearby home's CCTV camera and the footage was circulated on social media with local residents urging others to be vigilant, especially when alone

The Star reported yesterday, 8 May, that the suspect has since been detained.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the suspect was found and arrested about three hours on the same day after the alleged incident.

"We managed to arrest the suspect at Ara Damansara at about 10.15pm," he said in a statement on Monday.

The suspect was also found to be wanted for two criminal cases in Wangsa Maju and Kelana Jaya.

He added that the suspect will be in remand for four days to facilitate investigations, and urged anyone with more information on the case to contact the Petaling Jaya headquarters at +603-7966222 or head to the nearest police station.
