Video Of Rat Munching On Ayam Goreng At Mamak Goes Viral
The Ministry of Health (MOH) is urging members of the public to come forward to provide information regarding the video.
A video showing a rat munching on fried chicken at a mamak restaurant went viral on Twitter and even attracted the attention of the Ministry of Health (MOH)
The video was uploaded by an individual today, 23 December, before it was retweeted by MOH this afternoon.
"It's (happening) right in front of my eyes. I won't eat at a mamak anymore, I swear," read the caption of the post.
The individual was sitting just a few inches away from the rodent that was nibbling on fried chicken while he was eating his nasi lemak.

Responding to the video, MOH said it is urging members of the public to provide more information about the video, as it promised to take immediate action against the matter.
SAYS did not immediately receive a response after reaching out to the individual who uploaded the video.
At the time of writing, the video has collectively garnered over three million views and 16,000 likes
Under MOH's retweet, many netizens also alerted the ministry about other food safety hazards they encountered, one of which included worms found inside a bottle of soy sauce at a sushi restaurant.
MOH also posted an advisory today following the viral video, educating Malaysians about the dangers of rodent-borne diseases
"Rodents are pests that can transmit viruses and bacteria that can cause various fatal illnesses (to humans)," it said in an infographic.
MOH said rodents can transmit Leptospirosis, Salmonella, Hantavirus, and plague.
It advised everyone to keep and cover their food properly, as well as always maintain good hygiene.
