Video Of Water Surge At Lata Iskandar Waterfall Near Cameron Highlands Goes Viral

A video capturing a dramatic water surge at the popular Lata Iskandar waterfall along Jalan Tapah in Perak, heading to Cameron Highlands, has gone viral on social media
In the 45-second video captured by TikTok user @amsyar.am, the typically calm waterfall can be seen overflowing with murky water and rushing into the stream below.
According to Sinar Daily, water surge is a phenomenon caused by heavy rain, where water waves in large quantities come unexpectedly from upstream of a river.
Many social media users have been warning others against travelling in the area during heavy rainfall.
The video was taken on Monday, 13 May.

The Perak Fire and Rescue Department said they are monitoring the situation
The department operations division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the heavy rain on Sunday night had resulted in the heavy flowing water around 9am on Monday morning, reported the New Straits Times.
The incident did not involve any victims, he said.

He added that Sungai Lata Iskandar is known as one of the seven rivers in Perak that pose a risk of water surges during unusually high rainfall
