Health Dept Believes Weddings And Reunions Are Main Causes Of Kelantan COVID-19 Spike
11 out of the 31 cases reported yesterday were imported by those travelling from red zones.
Kelantan recently saw a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases within the state and the health department found that social events such as weddings and reunions may be the cause
State Local Government, Housing, and Health Committee chairman Dr Izani Husin told Harian Metro that on Saturday, 26 December, Kelantan recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases within the state since the disease was first discovered, with 85 people testing positive.
On Sunday, 27 December, another 31 people were found to be infected with the coronavirus disease.
Two new clusters have also been detected in Kota Bharu. They are the Halban cluster and Seragam Chepa cluster.

11 out of the 31 cases reported yesterday were imported from outside the state by those from red zones.
They are believed to have travelled to Kelantan during the holidays.
New Straits Times reported that during the state National Security Council (MKN) meeting yesterday, Dr Izani stressed that travellers are the main cause behind the rise in recent COVID-19 cases.
He said, "Yesterday showed that the virus is already in the community. It also proved a prediction by the state health department that there will be a drastic increase during the public and school holidays."

In the effort to contain the spread of the virus, state authorities have decided to limit wedding ceremonies to only 50 guests in contrast to the previous 150-guest rule
"The organiser also needs to apply for a permit from the police, and no children are allowed (to attend weddings). Ceremonies are only to be held from noon to 5pm," Dr Izani said.
He also added that if the situation worsens, the authorities will not hesitate to reinforce the Conditional Movement Control Order throughout the state.
