Woman Robbed When Taking Alternative Route Due To LRT Disruption
The LRT disruption is not only affecting the journeys of passengers who regularly use it as a means of transport, but is also exposing them to danger.
A 25-year-old woman was robbed in broad daylight after being forced to use an alternate route due to the massive service disruption to LRT lines along the Kelana Jaya line
The victim, Sophia, recounted the incident which occurred on Wednesday morning, 9 November.
Sophia, who currently works as an accounting intern in Petaling Jaya, was on the way to work yesterday, having arrived at LRT Sri Rampai Station. However, the auxiliary police informed her that the LRT service to her destination was affected.
"I got frustrated and called my dad to pick me up at the station," she told SAYS. "However, my dad called me and asked me to be at the pedestrian walk so that it'll be easier for him to pick me up."

While waiting for her father at a junction between the station and Desa Putra Condominium, two men in skull masks approached Sophia on a motorcycle
Sophia told SAYS, "One of them got down from the motorcycle and grabbed my laptop back pack from [behind], as I was hanging it on my left shoulder ... and [was] not fully [wearing] it properly."
When she attempted to resist, the robber pulled out a knife and started slashing at her bag before eventually snatching it altogether and speeding off on his accomplice's motorcycle.
"Luckily, my phone and purse [were] in my lunch bag, so they just snatched away my company’s valuables, which [were] a laptop and a mouse," she said. "I was [panicking], and [can only remember] that [the] two men were skinny, tanned men."
Following the incident, Sophia lodged a police report. Authorities informed her they would investigate the incident and check closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in the area for possible clues regarding the suspects' identities.

Following her ordeal, Sophia shared a word of warning to others who may be forced to walk long distances to commute due to the LRT service disruption
"I would like to advise [others to] please, please ... walk in groups if you are alone," she said. "Please go to crowded places and inform other people or the correct authorities if there are those who [seem] suspicious and so on."
Sophia shared the incident on Twitter, where her tweet has gone viral with over 11,000 retweets
