The talented British driver joined the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team in 2013, a move that was initially seen as questionable due to the team's lacklustre performance. Fans were outright skeptical, and with good reason.
However, Hamilton proved to be one of the best as he and the team dominated F1 from 2014 to 2018, winning a total of seven prestigious World Drivers' Championship titles, matching the legendary Michael Schumacher.
He also holds records for the most wins (105), pole positions (104), and podium finishes (202), among others, solidifying his status as a significant figure in the sport.
Hamilton is set to join Scuderia Ferrari HP for the 2025 F1 season, marking the end of one of the most successful partnerships in the sport.
Recently, one F1 fan sold their Lewis Hamilton trading card for an insane amount of money
The card was printed by Topps, an American company that manufactures trading cards and other collectibles. They also produce F1 cards based on the current season.
Topps revealed in an Instagram post that one fan managed to sell off his rare Lewis Hamilton card for at least USD1,000,000 (RM4,433,743).
The card was awarded a Grade 8 by professional card grading company PSA. This relatively low score was likely due to the taped-on autograph.
Despite the average score, the mint-looking card still fetched a tidy sum. While the sale price was undisclosed, Topps confirmed that it reached a seven-figure deal. This means that the card's price could have exceeded RM4.5 million.
This staggering record price broke the previous Topps collectible record, which also involved a Lewis Hamilton trading card
In 2022, a Lewis Hamilton Topps card owned by Canadian Jean-Nicolas Gargon, then 16, sold for USD900,000 (RM3,990,848).
That's a good deal considering he pulled the card from a USD50 (RM221) box.
