Here's How You Can Show Your Support For Team M'sia In Special Olympics World Games 2023

Held every two years, Special Olympics desires to create a world and community where people with intellectual disabilities can come together and compete.
With the motto #UnbeatableTogether, this year's Special Olympics reflects on the power of sports to bring people together.
Team Malaysia has sent 39 delegates in total to Berlin to compete in the games

The delegates comprise of 16 athletes, six unified partners, 12 coaches, four officials, and one healthcare professional.
The athletes will be competing in swimming, bocce, badminton, athletics, table tennis, and bowling.

To show further support, U Mobile plans to compile a series of short clips of Malaysians cheering for the Special Olympics Malaysia team. Here's how you can be part of it:
STEP 1: Record a 15-second (or more) vertical framed selfie or wefie video to show your encouragement. You can sing, chant, dance, or do anything you deem creative.
STEP 2: Email the video to umobilesom@gmail.com so that U Mobile can compile the footage and share it with the athletes
STEP 3: Post it on your social media platforms with the hashtags #UnbeatableTogether and #MYUnbeatableTeam starting from 17 June. Remember to set your account to public.
Interested to know who the athletes competing in this year's Special Olympics World Games are? Here's a look at a few of them:
1. Agnes Tiong, 15 years old

Agnes is a Chinese athlete from Sarawak, Malaysia. She has an intellectual disability, hearing impairments, and a medical condition diagnosed at an early age.
Despite these challenges, Agnes is a remarkable Special Olympics athlete, who will be representing Team Malaysia at Special Olympics World Games 2023. She excels in table tennis and will compete in the Women's Singles and Mix Doubles events with her teammate, Edwin.
2. Joanna Julius, 27 years old

In primary school, Joanna was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum and exhibiting signs of ADHD, in addition to being identified as a slow learner.
Joanna joined Special Olympics Sabah when she was nine, showcasing her athletic ability through sports such as athletics, bocce, and bowling and impressing her peers and teachers, who nicknamed her Puteri, the Princess of Sports.
Joanna participated in the 100m and 200m Snowshoeing events at Special Olympics World Winter Games Pyeong Chang 2013. And this year, she will be competing in athletics in the 100m Female Category C, Long Jump Female Category C, and Team Relay 4 x 100m (2nd runner).
3. Khairul Zaim, 19 years old

Struck by Meningitis at just three months old, Khairul's hyperactivity made it difficult for his mother, Zaini, to take him out in public without a toddler leash.
Khairul's passion for bowling developed at a young age, with his family frequently engaging in the activity. Even as a child, he displayed a natural talent for the sport. He will soon be competing in bowling in the Men's Singles, Unified Sports Double, and Team of Four.
