5 Nifty AI Features Of The HONOR Magic V3 You Can Use In Everyday Life

AI-powered tricks at your fingertips.

It's no secret that tech brands all around the world are hopping onto the artificial intelligence (AI) train and introducing a slew of AI tools we didn't know could exist or would ever need

One such device that has these handy AI tools is none other than the HONOR Magic V3, the latest smartphone release from HONOR.

Currently the world's thinnest foldable phone (at 9.2mm when folded), the Magic V3 proves that good things come in small packages.

We recently got to try it out, and we were very impressed with how much of a powerhouse it is for a device so slim. You can check out our full review here.

If you're still here (and I'm assuming you are), let's dive into what the Magic V3 has to offer, AI-wise, shall we?

1. Magic Portal for quick searches at your fingertips

A handy tool that can be accessed at any time, the AI Magic Portal serves as a quick search engine for anything on your screen. It's similar to Google's 'Circle to Search' tool, with the added advantage of being able to drop whatever it is you've circled into another app.

If you see something you like, you can either long press on it or circle it with your knuckle, and drag it to the edge of the screen to open 'Any Door'. There, you can search, share, or shop whatever it is you've highlighted.

Supported apps for this feature include Google, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Gmail, and WhatsApp.

2. AI HONOR Notes for all your transcribing needs

A particularly handy tool if you're one for note-taking (or stuck in a long meeting), AI HONOR Notes can easily transcribe audios and live conversations. The transcript can also be translated into selected languages of your choosing.

It can detect the different speakers throughout the conversation, labelling them as Speaker A, Speaker B, and so forth, for conversations with multiple people.

Trying it out with a scene from Schitt's Creek, the transcribing tool was pretty accurate, save for a few mistakes when audio overlapped or was unclear. But hey, if an AI can understand the scintillating and flowery expanse of Moira Rose's vocabulary, consider me impressed.

HONOR AI Notes currently supports English, Chinese, Malay, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Turkish, and Arabic.

3. AI Face to Face Translation

In a multilingual country like Malaysia, a live translator is actually a useful thing to have on hand, especially when you can just carry it around in your pocket.

The AI Face to Face Translation on the Magic V3 does what it says it does: offer real-time translation.

It offers two different modes. The first one is 'Conversation', which has both sides of the conversation translated live onto the same screen. The second is 'Face to Face' mode, which splits the screen in half so you can both read each other's translations. These translations can also be projected on the exterior screen, so that it's easier for the other party to read them.

The 'Face to Face' mode makes it easier for both parties.

Like AI HONOR Notes, AI Face to Face Translation currently supports 10 languages: English, Chinese, Malay, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Turkish, and Arabic.

4. Parallel Space for work-life balance

What could actually be my favourite feature on this list, Parallel Space helps you distinguish between work mode and family mode by having two separate systems with their own storage space and apps.

Parallel Space is its own isolated system. In most cases, this can be used for work purposes, and you can even allocate another SIM card for it. Simply pinch out on the screen, enter your password, and you'll enter your workspace with all your work apps and files.

Once you've clocked out for the day, you can exit the space, and any incoming calls from work contacts will be blocked (you can check who called when you enter the space again).

The independent storage space is a plus in my book because it keeps work and personal files all organised, a major advantage when you're working with a lot of videos and photos on a daily basis.

5. AI Eraser for easy post-editing

Offering a quick fix to one's photos, HONOR's AI Eraser lets you erase unwanted parts of your photo with ease. With the help of AI, the highlighted element will be removed, and the gap it leaves behind will be filled according to the photo.

This can be done for people, cars, watermarks, and any element you don't like making a cameo in your photo.

I tried it out on a somewhat busy street and was pretty impressed that the AI system was able to emulate the cobblestones and tiny details seamlessly. As with most AI tools, text on photos is a weak spot, and it produced blurry smudges where the signage would be. Nevertheless, it's worth noting that the entire process only took me slightly under two minutes.

AI-powered features are scattered throughout the phone's system

This includes AI-enhanced photo-taking and editing, customised screen layouts, and HONOR's AI Defocus Display.

While AI features might not be what everyone is looking for when considering getting a phone, the availability of such nifty tricks does make the HONOR Magic V3 a worthy contender in the foldable phone field.
