The Honor X7b was launched in 2023 to positive reviews, earning praise for its camera quality, large storage capacity, and long battery life. However, one significant drawback was its lack of 5G support, which was surprising for a modern budget smartphone.
Well, that's now a thing of the past, as the Chinese smartphone maker has released an updated version of the Honor X7b, addressing the 5G connectivity gap.
The Honor X7b 5G retains the same awesome features that made its predecessor an excellent budget smartphone, with the key addition of 5G connectivity and a different chipset
The previous model came with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680. But since the new model supports 5G, Honor fitted the X7b 5G with a MediaTek Dimensity 6020.
The new chipset is an entry-level 5G capable system-on-chip. The phone also comes with the same 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage as the predecessor.
The Honor X7b 5G is an interesting choice for people looking for an affordable 5G smartphone.

The Honor X7b 4G is currently retailing for RM799 which makes the 5G version a good choice for those looking for a budget-friendly 5G smartphone.
The new version comes in two colours; Emerald Green and Crystal Silver. The Crystal Silver variant features a textured finish on the back panel, giving the smartphone a premium feel.
The Honor X7b 5G features a triple rear camera setup, comprising a primary 108MP camera with an aperture of f/1.75, accompanied by a 2MP macro sensor with an aperture of f/2.4, and a 2MP depth sensor with an aperture of f/2.4.
The smartphone comes packed with a 6,000mAh battery with 35W fast charging. Some users have complained about its weight, but for a budget-friendly phone that comes with valuable features, I'm not complaining.
The Honor X7b 5G will be released on 25 April 2024.
