TLDM Releases Names Of 10 Victims Killed In Helicopter Crash At Lumut Base

The Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) has confirmed the loss of 10 lives following a crash involving two of its helicopters today, 23 April

The tragedy involved an M503-3 Maritime Operations Helicopter (HOM) and a Fennec helicopter (M502-6). The two aircrafts collided mid-air during a flypast exercise this morning.

According to TLDM's statement, the crash led to the loss of seven servicemen from the HOM helicopter and three crew members from the Fennec helicopter at its base in Lumut, Perak.

Among the casualties identified by TLDM are high-ranking officers and dedicated servicemen.

The Navy said that among the seven individuals on board the M503-3 HOM, four were crew members and three were passengers.

Four crew members:
- Squadron 503 commanding officer Commander Muhammad Firdaus Ramli
- Lieutenant Commander Wan Rezaudeen Kamal Wan Zainal Abidin
- Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Amirulfaris Mohamad Marzukhi
- Warrant Officer II TLR (AQM) Muhammad Faisol Tamadun

Three passengers:
- Warrant Officer II TNL Noorfarahimi Mohd Saedy
- Petty Officer TNL Noor Rahiza Anuar
- Able Seaman I JJM Joanna Felicia Rohna

Three crew members were onboard the Fennec M502-6


- Squadron 502 commanding officer Commander Muhamad Amir Mohamad
- Lieutenant Sivasutan Thanjappan
- Warrant Officer II TMK Mohd Shahrizan Mohd Termizi

TLDM extended its condolences to the victims' next of kin

It said that arrangements for handling of the remains are underway, with plans to be made according to naval protocols.
