Jaya Grocer 1 Utama Introduces Smart Trolleys & They're A Game Changer!
We tested it out and here's what we think.
Jaya Grocer 1 Utama has introduced something super cool — Smart Trolleys

Currently in their pilot phase, these futuristic trolleys are making your grocery run smoother, faster, and way more fun.
They do all sorts of neat things like scanning your items as you shop, letting you return items if you change your mind, and even making checkout a breeze.
It's like having a personal assistant with you while you shop!
How do they work?
It's easy! Just follow this simple step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Grab your smart trolley
Head to Jaya Grocer at 1 Utama (right now, they're only available here).
Once you're in the store, look for the smart trolleys — they should be clearly marked. You'll know you've found the right one when you see a screen on the handle and a scanner attached.
Scan your Jaya Grocer membership bar code in your Grab app on your phone to start.

Step 2: Start scanning your items
As you walk through the aisles, you can scan each item you pick up with the built-in scanner on the trolley.
Just hold your product's barcode in front of the scanner, and voila! The item is automatically added to your virtual shopping cart.

Step 3: Need to return something? No problem!
If you decide you don't want an item anymore while shopping, simply click on the item on the screen, click the 'subtract' button, and the system will remove it from your virtual cart.
Optionally, you can also click 'Empty' to remove all items from your cart.

Step 4: Looking for something specific? Get directions like a pro!
Ever find yourself wandering the aisles, looking for that specific brand of chips or pasta sauce you need? With the smart trolley, you can simply search for any item on the screen.
Once you type it in, the trolley will show you a map and direct you to exactly where the item is in the store — just like Google Maps or Waze.
It'll tell you which aisle to go to and even how far away the item is. No more circling the aisles aimlessly!

Step 5: When you're done, click checkout and follow these steps
- Go to the self-checkout kiosk – Look for the one that has a QR code scanner. Click 'Checkout with Smart Trolley' on the kiosk screen.
- Scan your QR code – On the trolley's screen, a QR code will pop up once you're ready to check out. Scan it at the self-checkout kiosk.
- Pay and go! – After scanning, your cart will automatically show up on the kiosk. Simply pay using your preferred method (credit card, e-wallet, etc.), and you're all done! No need to unpack everything to re-scan items manually.

And that's it! You're all set to go with your groceries, and the smart trolley automatically updates your cart in real time.
Take note that you won't be able to take the smart trolley outside the store, as it will beep if you try to leave with it.
So, remember to bring your own recyclable bags for your groceries or you can purchase plastic bags for 20 sen each.
