Sofyank Stuns Malaysians By Winning 1st Place At The Ultimate VFX Challenge In The US

The competition, organised by VFX content creator, Zach King, took place over a span of four days, and concluded on Friday, 21 April.

According to WeirdKaya, contestants were given 72 hours to produce a video with their expertise.

The panel of judges included Zach King himself, VFX artist and engineer Wren, American content creator Kelli Erdman, and 'Mythbusters' host, Adam Savage.

Sofian, popularly known as Sofyank, competed against content creators from the Netherlands and the UK, and came out on top after impressing the judges with his video.

"When I first got the invite to fly to Los Angeles, I felt so happy and couldn't believe the huge opportunity I was given," Sofian wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post.

"And when Zach King announced that I won the Ultimate VFX Challenge, all I could think about then was how to convey this good news to everyone in Malaysia."

"I want to share this happiness with those who have always supported us. This win is dedicated to all of you," He added, adding his gratitude to Zach King himself and to his parents.

The win not only earned Sofyank a special spot in the eyes of his idol, Zach King, he also won the hearts of many Malaysians congratulating him on his deserved award.

Minister of Digital Communications and Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament (MP) YB Fahmi Fadzil congratulated the VFX artist and teased collaborations with him in the future.

The win also caught the attention of the prime minister himself, citing the achievement as an encouragement for creative minds to go above and beyond with their talents.
