Netflix has announced a new pricing adjustment for its subscription plans in Malaysia, effective immediately from 10am today, 14 November

The price hike affects all tiers of Netflix's subscription plans, including Mobile, Basic, Standard, and Premium, prompting mixed reactions from subscribers.

However, there's good news for Astro customers who have bundled Netflix with their TV packages, as they will enjoy a temporary reprieve from this increase.

Astro has clarified that existing customers who have subscribed to Netflix through their Astro subscription bundles will not experience the price increase until 1 March 2025

This means that for the next few months, they can continue enjoying Netflix at the current rates.

  • New Netflix Add-on Sign-ups: The new pricing will be immediately applicable for all new Netflix add-on subscriptions starting 14 November 2024.
  • Existing Netflix Add-on Customers: For customers who were subscribed to Netflix via Astro before 14 November 2024, the price change will take effect from their billing cycle starting on or after 21 November 2024.

This latest price hike follows Netflix's global adjustments in response to rising operational costs and market conditions

As the new pricing takes effect, Netflix's Malaysian subscribers are encouraged to review their current plans to see which best fits their viewing habits.

Meanwhile, Astro's delay in passing on the new rates offers some breathing space for its bundled users to enjoy their favourite shows without an immediate impact on their monthly bills.
