A 19-year-old female student in Dungun, Terengganu, reportedly gave birth in a hostel toilet before wrapping the newborn in cloth, putting the body in a bag, and hiding it in a locker
According to Dungun district police chief Supt Nik Ab Halim Nik Mat, police received a report about the discovery of the baby's body at 10.48pm yesterday, 10 September.
Initial investigations found that the student had allegedly given birth in the hostel toilet on Wednesday night.
She then reportedly wrapped the baby's body in cloth, placed it inside a bag, and kept it in a locker at the hostel, reported Harian Metro.
The case came to light after the management of a mosque contacted the educational institution when the student sought help arranging the baby's burial.
Police subsequently went to the location to investigate.

Nik Ab Halim said police will record statements from witnesses and inspect the scene with assistance from the Terengganu contingent police headquarters' Criminal Investigation Department Forensic Unit.
Police will also track down the student's boyfriend to assist with the investigation.
The baby's body has since been taken to the Dungun Hospital Forensic Department for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth.
