'Logan Lucky' Is This Season's Must-Watch Comedy Movie. Here's Why
Stellar cast, crazy plot, genius director, and more!
The new star-studded comedy heist movie 'Logan Lucky' will be hitting cinemas this month and it looks awesome!
Jimmy Logan (Channing Tatum) leads his one-armed brother Clyde (Adam Driver) and hairdresser sister Mellie (Riley Keough) in an elaborate scheme to rob North Carolina’s Charlotte Motor Speedway. To help them break into the track’s system, Jimmy recruits volatile demolition expert Joe Bang (Daniel Craig) who is currently in prison.
Will this unlucky trio be able to pull off the heist of a lifetime? Check out the trailer below!
The film features a stellar ensemble cast including Daniel Craig as you've never seen him before :O
While the film centres around Channing Tatum's character Jimmy, it's Daniel Craig's role as Joe Bang that steals every scene.
The suave British star is best known as the smooth and polished James Bond. In 'Logan Lucky', he's traded his tailored suits for jail stripes as an incarcerated criminal with a ridiculous Southern accent. While he's not the gentleman we're used to, we can't wait to see this whole new side of Daniel :D
And Daniel Craig's not the only one to undergo a hot-to-not transformation :P
From 6-pack abs and smooth moves in 'Magic Mike' to failed football star with a permanent limp. Channing Tatum is giving his biceps a rest to flex his acting muscles and we are living for it!
Best known for his role as the sinister Kylo Ren in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', Adam Driver's character, one-armed Jimmy, is far from intimidating. His incredibly low-quality prosthetic arm makes this character even wackier.
The creator of 'Family Guy', voice of 'Ted', and all-round entertainment genius Seth MacFarlane gets a major "makeunder" for 'Logan Lucky'! The hair, the 'stache... omg.
Aside from fan favourites Channing Tatum and Adam Driver, the film also stars A-listers Hilary Swank, Katie Holmes, Sebastian Stan, and Jack Quaid
Two-time Oscar winning director Steven Soderbergh came out of retirement to take on the project
Soderbergh is best known for directing critically acclaimed Hollywood films such as 'Erin Brockovich', 'Traffic', 'Ocean's 11' and its two sequels, and 'Magic Mike.'
The A-list director shocked everyone when he announced his retirement from film four years ago to focus on television. However after reading the script of 'Logan Lucky,' Soderbergh loved it so much that he decided to come out of retirement to direct it!
He describes the movie as "a cousin to an Ocean’s film" except that the characters have "no money and no technology."
And now we can't wait to see how they pull off the heist without these essentials!
The film currently has an approval rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and has been praised by critics
As of the time of writing, 'Logan Lucky' has been certified 93% 'fresh' by over 100 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. On the whole, it's received universal acclaim from both critics and audiences!
Variety magazine reviewed the film positively as "a high-spirited, low-down blast." The Hollywood Reporter said, "This is a good-times film that doesn't put on airs, dress to impress or pretend to be something it isn't. It just aims to please and does a pretty good job of it."
Are you ready for a good time of laughs and thrills? Watch 'Logan Lucky' in cinemas on 7 September!
