Malaysian Elyn Leong has successfully become part of a new girl group formed through reality competition show Chuang Asia: Thailand

On 6 April, Elyn bested other contestants to win one of nine spots after performing Girls Generation's Into The New World and dancing to Be Mine in the finals.

She came in fifth with more than 49 million votes from adoring fans, securing a place to debut.

During her speech, she thanked her fans for their unwavering support in Mandarin, English, and Thai

"Thank you to my fans for supporting me to debut, as well as the programme for providing me with a stage to showcase my talent," she said.

She also thanked her mother, who was in the audience crying tears of joy, saying, "Mum, I did it!"

The 21-year-old's success does not come as a surprise as she consistently ranked within the top nine in all ten episodes of the show

While announcing her win, competition mentor, Thai singer Jeff Satur, also commented that she worked hard to learn Thai on the show.

Elyn will now be debuting as a member of girl group Gen1es, alongside other winners: Qiao Yi Yu, Ruan, Pailiu, Yean, Wang Ke, Xueyao, Didi, and Emma.

The final nine came out on top out of 70 contestants from different countries, including Thailand, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia, in the idol survival show's first edition outside of China.
