In his award speech, the Malaysian said it was such an honour to represent the country.

Aqil told Harian Metro that he was surprised when he first received an email from Nickelodeon informing him that he was nominated for the award in January.

"I really didn't expect to be chosen because the other contestants are simply amazing," he said.

Nonetheless, he tried his best to encourage his fans to vote for him throughout the online voting period

"Opportunities like this don't come easy, so I will work as hard as possible," said the content creator who posted videos every day on YouTube and Instagram to garner votes.

The 27-year-old started actively uploading YouTube videos during the Movement Control Order (MCO) in 2020, and has over 1.73 million subscribers, who follow him for his fun and playful content.

Fans in Malaysia can catch the premiere of the full Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2023 at 6.30pm on Wednesday, 8 March, on the Nickelodeon channel.
