South Korean Olympic silver medallist pistol shooter Kim Ye-ji has her eyes set on her first acting gig
According to entertainment company Asia Lab, the 32-year-old silver medallist has been cast as an assassin in an upcoming series, Crush.
The series, a short-form spinoff of the film Asia, is directed by Lee Jung-sub and focuses on the raw stories of individuals facing racial hatred and discrimination. The sharp shooter will appear alongside Indian actress Anushka Sen.
Kim gained plenty of fans after her silver medal win in the 10m air pistol event at the Paris Olympics went viral
However, it was a highlight clip from her previous appearance at the ISSF World Cup in May that really shot her to fame.
In the clip, Kim casually shoots at the target before flicking the cover up on her futuristic looking-shooting glasses to see her score. She barely reacts when she sets a new record with a score of 42 points in the 25m air pistol event.
With a cap donned backwards and one hand coolly tucked into her pocket, netizens on social media quickly fell in love with the sharp shooter.
The clip even caught the eye of X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk, who tweeted, "She should be cast in an action movie. No acting required!"
It looks like Musk's suggestion wasn't far off the mark!Kim recently signed with a South Korean talent agency and has been branching out, including featuring in a Louis Vuitton photo shoot
Kim has said she would be open to exciting opportunities outside the range as long as they can promote her sport.
