The SDS Holi Festival Malaysia is back after a six-year hiatus

Pioneered by the SDS Youth Group of the Shree Lakshmi Narayan Temple, the SDS Holi Festival Malaysia is an annual event that celebrates the illustrious and colourful festival of Holi in Malaysia.

Open to the public, it draws larger crowds every year to join in on the festivities.

Holi is a spring festival, also known as the festival of colours, and has grown in popularity across South Asia and beyond

The ancient Hindu festival welcomes everyone, regardless of background or religion, to enjoy the feeling of togetherness and a sense of community.

At the Shree Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Holi has been celebrated on a grand scale for the past ten years. Attendees are provided with coloured powder and colour-infused water to fully immerse themselves in the experience. Water guns and filled buckets of water are also on hand to keep the excitement going.

During the inaugural event in 2014, the SDS Holi Festival Malaysia attracted a crowd of up to 2,500 people from 35 different countries.

Just two years later, SDS Holi Festival Malaysia created history by making it into the Malaysia Book of Records for holding the largest Holi festival in the country with an attendance of 5,955 people from over 45 different countries.

The objective of the festival is to unite people of all cultures and walks of life by taking part in the colourful event, promoting camaraderie and community

Taking a pause on festivities due to the pandemic, this year's Holi festival is tipped to be bigger and better than ever before.
