Daebak! 'Squid Game' Nabs An Impressive 14 Nominations At The 2022 Emmy Awards
It is the first non-English language show to earn an Outstanding Drama Series nomination!
On 12 July, the annual Emmy Awards announced the nominees for this year, revealing that popular Korean drama Squid Game has made history with 14 nominations
From being Netflix's most-watched show to racking up numerous awards, Squid Game is certainly no stranger to accolades, having captured the attention of audiences all around the world. And now, it can add a historic Emmy nomination count to its list of achievements.
Not only is the Korean drama the first non-English language to ever be nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, stars of the show Lee Jung Jae, Jung Ho Yeon, Park Hae Soo, Oh Young Soo, and Lee Yoo Mi are all the first Korean actors to earn nominations in their respective categories. Additionally, director Hwang Dong Hyuk is also the first Korean to get Emmy nominations for directing and writing.

Across the various awards, Squid Game is up against other popular shows and actors
Other nominees for the Outstanding Drama Series include Stranger Things, Euphoria, Ozark, and more.
Meanwhile, in the Lead Actor in a Drama Series category, Lee Jung Jae is up against Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong for Succession, Bob Odenkirk for Better Call Saul, and Adam Scott for Severance.
As for Jung Ho Yeon, she'll be contending with the likes of Patricia Arquette for Severance, Julia Garner for Ozark, Christina Ricci for Yellowjackets, and more, in the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category.
The 2022 Emmy Awards will air on 12 September.
