Many of us will remember The Wizard of Oz as a core part of our childhoods
Between the Yellow Brick Road, flying monkeys, a tin man, and a giant floating wizard head, The Wizard of Oz had everything you could want in a dream-like fantasy.
Though at times, things can start to feel a little unsettling.
Now, Sunway Lagoon has answered the question we never dared ask: "What if The Wizard of Oz was actually a horror story?"
Inside the beloved theme park's SCREAM PARK zone, the children's classic has been reimagined as The (Not-So) Wonderful Wizard of Oz, a new walkthrough section that completely twists everything we remember about the original classic.
Instead of the bright, cheerful version most people remember from childhood, this one takes visitors through a darker and stranger reimagining of Oz
Inspired by L. Frank Baum's original 1900 novel, the immersive walkthrough takes guests through familiar locations including the Kansas Farmhouse, Munchkinland, Emerald City, the Scary Forest, and the Wicked Witch's domain.
Visitors will be taken through a story-led walkthrough where they don't just watch the story unfold from the sidelines.
Instead, they're invited to step into the world of Oz itself, moving through immersive environments and theatrical moments that gradually reveal a more distorted side of the beloved fantasy world.
As they follow the Yellow Brick Road, familiar locations become increasingly strange, creating an experience that feels less like a traditional haunted attraction and more like stepping inside a dark fairytale.
And if you want even more creepy moments, you'll find lots of them at the refreshed SCREAM PARK
The (Not-So) Wonderful Wizard of Oz is one of the main additions to Sunway Lagoon's refreshed SCREAM PARK, which now focuses more heavily on immersive walkthrough experiences and themed environments.
The wider attraction lineup also includes HANTUTU'S THEATER featuring Hantu Hunters, which explores Malaysian and Southeast Asian folklore through an AI-enhanced film experience, as well as the refreshed Horrorwood Studios Wax Museum of Monsters, inspired by classic monster movies and cinematic horror traditions.
