"We've Encountered Unforeseen Challenges" — TONGTONG Festival 2024 Postponed To Next Year
If you've already purchased tickets, you can choose either a full refund or to roll your tickets over to TONGTONG Fest 2025.
TONGTONG Fest, initially scheduled for 14 and 15 September at The Campus Ampang in Kuala Lumpur, has been postponed due to unforeseen challenges, according to the festival's organisers
The organisers cited three key reasons for the decision:
- Unexpected complications arose regarding the venue's completion and compliance certifications.
- 15 September was declared a "blackout" date in observance of Malaysia Day on 16 September, prohibiting foreign artistes from performing on the second day of the festival.
- Headlining act Squid withdrew from their Asia tour following a serious cycling accident involving one of their band members.
"Despite our best efforts and intentions, we've encountered unforeseen challenges that have made it impossible to proceed with the festival as planned," the organisers said in a statement
They accepted full responsibility for the postponement, explaining that recent challenges left them with limited time to resolve matters.
As a temporary alternative, a one-day 'Diet TTF' show, headlined by Machinedrum, will take place on 14 September, alongside various pop-up shows between 7 and 16 September.
TONGTONG Fest has been rescheduled to the middle of 2025 with a revamped lineup.
Ticket holders have two options: either request a full refund by 30 September or roll over their tickets to the 2025 festival
Additionally, proof of purchase will grant them free access to Diet TTF and the pop-up shows.
The organisers apologised to those who made travel arrangements to attend, acknowledging the disappointment
"This decision was not made lightly, and it comes after exploring all possible options," they said, extending gratitude to the artistes, sponsors, and crew who had worked tirelessly to prepare for the event.
