Last week, we had the opportunity to speak with Angelina Jolie, who stars in the upcoming thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead

The 2021 survival-slash-action movie is Jolie's first leading role in three years since Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019). Prior to that, she acted — not including voice acting — in less than five feature films over the past decade, according to IMDB.

Those Who Wish Me Dead is about a teenage murder witness who finds himself being pursued by twin assassins in the Montana wilderness with a survival expert tasked with protecting him — and a forest fire threatening to consume them all.

Check out what happened when we sat down with Angelina Jolie, Finn Little, Jon Bernthal, and Medina Senghore below:

Jolie told us that she is drawn to characters who are average people, but have to come face to face with difficult obstacles

Angelina Jolie: "To see a human being fight through something that they're challenged by. I think it's very uplifting for the audience. And I think the audience can relate to people like her who are not superheroes."

Meanwhile, Senghore shared her first thoughts after reading the script, saying it is rare to see strong and vulnerable female characters like her character in Those Who Wish Me Dead

Medina Senghore: "My first thought was like, 'Oh my goodness, I want to be in this'. And even if I'm not in this, I will joyfully go and see it because you don't often see a character like Allison who's tough and all those things, but who's also at a very soft and vulnerable point in her life. Women carry those complexities with them every day. We don't get to see it played out in film all that much."

When we asked Bernthal about how he feels about his character taking a back seat in this movie, he said he is happy to see female characters being the ones who are kicking ass in this movie

Jon Bernthal: "I like taking a back seat, you know. He's a character who's just [...] totally and completely in love with his wife and I love the opportunity to marvel at that and be in awe of her. [...] I think it's great that the women in this film are the ones who are kicking ass, you know?"

Since the cast spent a lot of time filming in the woods, we asked them what is the one thing they'd bring to a forest

Not surprisingly, Jolie said she would bring a fire starter, while Little said he would bring a survival knife — proving themselves to be a great duo who can survive in the wilderness with no problem.

As for Bernthal and Senghore, the sheriff actor said he would bring a phone, while Senghore said she would bring a shovel. We reckon that the shovel is a good weapon for self-defence. ;)

The movie will be available in cinemas once they are allowed to operate again. Watch the trailer of the movie below:
