Yuna Is Now The First Malaysian Artiste To Be Nominated For A BET Award
She received a nomination for her hit song 'Crush', a duet with American singer Usher.
Yuna has done the country proud again! She is now the first Malaysian artist to secure a nomination in this year's BET (Black Entertainment Television) Awards.
The BET Awards were established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year.
The awards are presented annually and are broadcast live on BET.
The 30-year-old singer-songwriter, who's currently based in Los Angeles, received a nomination for the BET Centric Award for 'Crush', a duet with American R&B singer Usher
"It's so good to be nominated a major recognition for my work from a prestigious award that has honoured major names in R&B and soul music!" said Yuna as quoted by TODAY.
She's nominated alongside Fantasia's ‘Sleeping With The One I Love’, Solange’s ‘Cranes In The Sky’, Mary J. Blige’s ‘Thick Of It’, Kehlani’s ‘Distraction’, and Syd’s ‘All About Me.’
The Kedah-born songstress took to Twitter last night to share the good news
She wrote, "My song Crush feat. @Usher nominated for Centric Award @bet! I love everyone on this list with all my heart thank you so much! #BETawards.”
This year's awards ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on 25 June.
