It's commonly understood that cats and mice can't stand each other, similar to what is depicted in the classic children's television show, Tom & Jerry.

However, has this idea always proven to be true?

A recent TikTok has been making waves across the Internet after one cat owner shared how two of her domesticated cats reacted to seeing a mouse in her house.

In the 11-second clip, Desinta Ayu Puspita Sari shared how two of her cats, one long-haired Persian orange cat, and the other, a British Shorthair grey cat, stared in disbelief at a mouse who was casually sitting on a cardboard box in her house.

Somewhat eclipsed by its presence, both cats sit almost motionless, with a look of pure fear plastered across the grey cat's face, while the orange cat seems relatively unbothered.

With none of the three creatures budging throughout the clip, the grey cat moves its head a little lower to catch a clearer view of the mouse before the video ends.

Receiving seven million views and almost one million likes at the time of writing, many people chimed in with their thoughts over the clip of Sari's two cats

The vast majority of commenters mentioned how spoiled both cats are, saying that they didn't feel the need, physically or instinctually, to go after the mouse.

"This generation of cats are getting more and more pampered," joked one user, while others suggested that the cats probably thought Sari would get the mouse instead.

Another user even suggested that the cats may have found the mouse cute, leading to them not feeling like chasing it.

Others suggested that the two cats may have been scared of the mouse, given their facial expressions.

"Their faces turned grey!" commented one user.

Nevertheless, it seems as though the situation is not as uncommon, as other users also mentioned how their own cats may not be quick to react to mice too.

"They are just like my cat! It runs away whenever it sees mice," added one user.

One user couldn't help but make jokes at the expense of the cats, saying that they were probably wondering if the mouse resided in their owner's house just like them.
